An evaluation of the life skills programmes offered to offenders, probationers, and parolees by the DCS

In this project, I worked in a multidisciplinary team to deliver on a project evaluating interventions for offenders. We visited several correctional facilities across South Africa collecting raw data. Our analysis and insights led to improvements in the structure of programs offered to offenders.

As a project lead, I supervised the entire project, and also performed the data analysis (R, SPSS), and report writing. In this community-based project, I hired more than 40 field researchers in local communities, supervised them throughout, and obtained insightful findings for the client.

In this project I worked in a team of three to update the annual transformation and training benchmarks report. I used Excel to analyse data supplied by the client, make visualisations, and updated the report with new information.

I worked as a project lead in this project conducted in partnership with Gauteng Department of Human Settlements. The purpose was to conduct a socio-economic mapping of households residing in a proposed re-development program. I recruited, trained, and managed data collectors from the local community, performed quality control on data collected, and then used the data to develop a report advising the human settlements on the characteristics and affordability of households.

In this project, I worked as a researcher to first source data on SMEs and cooperatives from South Africa’s 240+ municipalities, then followed with a survey of selected SMEs & cooperatives to establish their skills needs. We also developed an accessible SQL database of the businesses confirmed to be operational.

I worked as a Management Consultant in this project focused on the facilitation of strategic and operational plans for the client. The work involved organising facilitating strategic sessions, taking notes, developing first drafts of planning documents, and facilitating the refinement of these plans.

In this second follow-up project on integrity measurement, I worked as a principal researcher and Quantitative Analyst. My work involved updating literature review, setting up appointments for data collection sessions with LEA executives, data collection through questionnaire distribution among LEA officials, quantitative analysis, and report writing. At the end of the project I also led a training seminar for the benefit of the client’s interns on the usage of SPSS in descriptive and inferential statistical analysis for similar projects.
Analysis of the Economic Contribution of the Private Security and the Legal Services Sub-sectors in South Africa

This project involved conducting econometric analysis of the contribution of two subsectors to the SA economy. I used proven econometric models and data gathered from Statistics South Africa and the World bank to perform the analysis in STATA and deliver a report for the client.

In this project, I worked as a researcher and data analyst. The project included recruitment of participants randomly by approaching people in the streets to collect data. We also held several interviews and focus group discussions with institutional stakeholders. A mixed-methods approach was employed in the analysis of data.

Research to assess the level and impact of student indebtedness within the South African tertiary institutions from 2013-2018

As a researcher in this project, I was involved from start to completion. My work included conducting literature review to establish baselines, development and testing of research instruments, and data collection through questionnaires and interviews with students, as well as interviews with institutional stakeholders (lenders, academia, government). I also analysed the resultant data and drafted the research report.

I worked as a researcher in the first follow-up study on the integrity of law enforcement officials. While working in a large team, I was involved in updating literature review, visitng various law enforcement agencies to collect data, perform analysis in SPSS, and writing the research report. As part of skills transfer, I also provided training services in data analysis to a team of interns from the client organisation.

In this project, my role was to analyse primary data collected from community members of a proposed re-development project. I used statistical inferencing in SPSS to assess the socioeconomic status and affordability of prospective beneficiaries of the development project.
